Another season, another $8,000–$15,000 price tag for a family to keep their kid competitive in club volleyball. Registration fees, tournament entry, travel, hotels, uniforms, private training on top of it all.

For a sport that claims to be growing, we’re doing a remarkable job of making sure only certain families can afford to be part of it.

The talent that can’t afford the travel circuit doesn’t disappear. It just stops playing. And coaches lose athletes they’ll never even know existed.

This isn’t a new problem. It’s just one nobody in a position to fix it wants to say out loud.

Poll: Is the cost of club volleyball a crisis for the sport?

  • Yes — we’re losing players and coaches because of it

  • It’s a problem but not a crisis

  • No — competitive sport has always had a cost
